Merrimack High helps others through Giving Tree

The Giving Tree is entirely anonymous. Families give their names and gift suggestions to the guidance office. The Interact Club then receives the list of gifts and creates the ornaments.

Brunelle said the Giving Tree is a great way to give back to the community and spread Christmas cheer.

The Giving Tree will be available throughout December thanks to the Interact Club, a group for students who want to give back to their community through service hours. Each member must participate in at least 10 hours a semester by taking part in various events that give back to the community.

Each ornament has a gift that will be given to a family in need in order to make their Christmas special. Every family's ornament has its own shape and color.

Not all gifts are big and expensive. Most families ask for things they really need, as well as toys for children.

Gift recipients are Merrimack families and those associated with Meals on Wheels, an organization that provides meals to home bound seniors.
