MERRIMACK It wasn't pretty, but a sloppy third quarter and two bloody noses weren't enough to keep coach Tim Goodridge's Tomahawks out of the win column especially on their home court.
free throws, with another in the third quarter to go along with two more field goals.
Kerr had hit two straight buckets, including a 3 pointer, after being inserted into the lineup. His third consecutive attempt came closer to the net as he drove to the basket and went up in a crowd of Astros. With no foul on the play, an official stopped the game as Pinkerton transitioned to its end of the floor after Kerr hit the floor and came up with blood on his face.
With Goodridge emptying his bench, the 6 5 Astros outscored the Tomahawks 17 14 in the final frame, while Kerr scored four more points down the stretch.

Merrimack High School outscored Pinkerton Academy in all but a bench filled fourth quarter on its way to a 60 41 Division I boys basketball win Friday night.
"Zach had Balenciaga Nano City Size a great night out there," said Goodridge, whose Tomahawks improved to 10 1. "He handled the ball well and made his shots."
It will be a tough week of basketball for Merrimack with two of three games against top four Division I opponents.

Merrimack's offense was led by seniors Eric Gendron and Shayne Bourque with 20 and 15 points respectively, but the star of the night may have been sophomore Zach Kerr, who scored 11 hard fought points off the bench.
Once again it was Merrimack's defense that shined. The Tomahawks held the Astros in check, allowing none of them to score in double figures. Pinkerton's high scorer was David Faulks with nine points, while Brennan Morris added eight.

"They were missing their big guy tonight," Goodridge said of Pinkerton captain Luke Rosinski. "But you have to give credit to our guys. They have a bigger lineup than us, and we were able to out rebound them and keep them in check offensively.
Merrimack ran away to an 18 6 first quarter lead, highlighted by a last second dunk by Gendron. The Tomahawks' leader scored 14 first half points seven in each quarter. Bourque was just as solid with 10 of his 15 in the first half, including 5 for 5 from the charity stripe. He would finish a perfect 6 for 6 in Guess Kamryn Medium Tote
It didn't hold the underclassman down too long, as he returned after halftime with Merrimack holding a 35 19 edge. Kerr scored one of just seven combined baskets during a third quarter that was scoreless until the halfway point. The Tomahawks strung together an 11 5 run from there to reach the fourth quarter up 46 24.
"That was the story of this game. Defense set the tone and made a big difference."
"It's a big week for us," Goodridge said, "but I'm not overlooking Sunday's opponent. First things first. After Sunday, we can focus on BG, but I see Timberlane on our schedule next. That's who we're focused on right now."
