Merrimack's offense was led by seniors Eric Gendron and Shayne Bourque with 20 and 15 points respectively, but the star of the night may have been sophomore Zach Kerr, who scored 11 hard fought points off the bench.

"They were missing their big guy tonight," Goodridge said of Pinkerton captain Luke Rosinski. "But you have to give credit to our guys. They have a bigger lineup than us, and we were able to out rebound them and keep them in check offensively.

Merrimack ran away to an 18 6 first quarter lead, highlighted by a last second dunk by Gendron. The Tomahawks' leader scored 14 first half points seven in each quarter. It didn't hold the underclassman down too long, as he returned after halftime with Merrimack holding a 35 19 edge. Kerr scored one of just seven combined baskets during a third quarter that was scoreless until the halfway point. The Tomahawks strung together an 11 5 run from there to reach the fourth quarter up 46 24.

"That was the story of this game. Defense set the tone and made a big difference."

"It's a big week for us," Goodridge said, "but I'm not overlooking Sunday's opponent. First things first. After Sunday, we can focus on BG, but I see Timberlane on our schedule next. That's who we're focused on right now."
