Mayor Lou Rosamilia gave a nod to RPI as he said the city was fortunate enough to have a "world class university" in its city boundaries.

It wasn't just a partnership between businesses, the city and the state. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute President Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson said the project contributed to "the renaissance of Troy" and was happy the university could spark the growth.
"What you see today is a mutually beneficial and transformative project and a sustainable project for the school, the city and Blue Balenciaga local business," Rosamilia said. "We're working to change the landscape of the city."
Many who spoke focused on the success of the private/public partnership which led to the construction of City Station, as it received a $2.5 million grant from the New York State Regional Economic Development Council in addition to the $50 million investment the United Group has made in the city to date. Buell said the total investment by the time the City Station project is complete will be $150 million.
"We share the success and hope for a brighter future of the city," Jackson said. "City Station is a step in that direction."
"It's the product of a tremendous amount of hard work," said United Group Development Executive Jeff Buell. "It's providing a connection between Rensselaer and the historic downtown Troy."
