Michael Nardone hails theatre classic for revealing timeless truth about great depression
Michael plays her husband, John, who struggles to find work. Not being able to look after his family eats away at his pride.
Despite being written in 1947 and set in the 1930s, the play has parallels with today's economic crisis and the hardship faced by many families now.
"I think it is a very important piece of Scottish literature and needs to be revisited and seen by as many people as possible."
Michael has also had lean times, however, and as a dad of four he has three sons, Ben, 22, Callum, 20, Luigi, 13, and a daughter, Leila, seven, with wife Natalie he has had to earn a living by any means possible.
Michael said: "My character is a symbol of what men were supposed to represent at the time.
He said: "In high school, in the late 70s, early 80s, there was a commitment to our Balenciaga Handbag
As an actor, Michael is more aware than most of what it is like not knowing where your next job is coming from.
Now, 44, the former River City and Rome star is appearing in the National Theatre of Scotland's new production of the classic, set in Glasgow during the 1930s depression, and his appreciation of it has grown.
The actor would love to see Durham County shown in the UK and it's little wonder given the attention Guess Purse Uk
In River City, he played corrupt cop DCI Whiteside. His role in gritty Canadian drama Durham County saw him nominated for an award at the Monte Carlo TV awards, although he ultimately Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Nappa lost out to Mad Men's Jon Hamm.
The acclaimed work may have been rated one of the top 50 plays of the last century but it was just another part of the curriculum when he was a teenager at St Columba's High School in Dunfermline.
Even so, he's not short of offers. He is currently writing and developing his own projects with Alex McSherry and has two films in the pipeline, including Richard Jobson's new project, a thriller called Helter Skelter which is due to shoot in Scotland.
As well as Monte Carlo awards, just last week he was up for a Gemini Award, the Canadian equivalent of a Bafta.
is in control and making the decisions but, ultimately, he isn't and doesn't cope with that."
Michael, who grew up in the former mining town of Ballingry in Fife, said: "The play is an entertainment but it is also a lesson in the times we are living, just as much as it was then.
Despite cramped living space and the turmoil of seven children, the family is held together by the strength of mother Maggie, played by former Deacon Blue star Lorraine McIntosh.

"We're having to bow down to pressure by market forces we have no control over."
"It can be very tough because you never make enough money on one job to see you through the fallow periods, so you're continually chasing your tail."
It will be his second project with his fellow Fifer, having worked on his latest movie The Somnambulists, which makes its debut at the London Film Festival next month.
These have included being a chef in a greasy spoon, hefting bags of plaster as a labourer and driving a van.
IT WOULD be fair to say Michael Nardone's first experience of Ena Lamont Stewart's play Men Should Weep was not a life changing moment.
He wouldn't rule out a return to River City, especially as accomplice Lenny Murdoch, played by Frank Gallagher, is back in Sheildinch. He said: "Whiteside's not dead so unless he had a stroke in jail or something, I'd not rule it out."
Men Should Weep is a drama about the Morrison family, who endure a life of grinding poverty in a Glasgow tenement during the great depression.
He said: "It sounds ridiculous to even associate yourself to what's going on in the play but it isn't that far off, in the sense that acting is not a secure existence.
"You've got to be seen to be the provider, going out to catch the mammoth and bring it back to the cave and all that stuff.
his role in it has brought him.
However, he has an impressive track record, which includes starring on stage in award winning plays including Gagarin Way and Black Watch. His TV credits include the mini epic Rome, Low Winter Sun and Taggart.
"But ask me now and I'd say this is a great play. More than that, it is an iconic play which comes from Scotland.

"When you are 16 or 17 you are bit like, 'What's this?' even if, ultimately, everyone appreciated the themes and issues.
